Under U.S. regulations, all clinical tests that substantiate product claims must adhere to 21 CFR 50 (Protection of Human Subjects) and 21 CFR 56 (Institutional Review Boards). Moreover, the IRB overseeing such trials must be registered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Due to these strict requirements, even one of Korea’s largest cosmetics companies (Company “A”) conducts clinical tests in the United States through Resource of K.Beauty (ROK). It provides fully customized research protocols tailored to each client’s unique claims, utilizing standard industry procedures that focus on cosmetic safety, low-irritation product claims, and efficacy.
Advanced Science Laboratories, Inc. has assembled a next-generation clinical trial team by recruiting top-tier professionals, including board-certified doctors and industry experts with extensive experience in health and beauty aids (HBA), personal hygiene products, and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. The company specializes in protocol development, safety and efficacy testing, and unique visual demonstrations of product performance. In addition, it conducts tests on sunscreens, deodorants, moisturizers, wrinkle treatments, hair products, and a variety of other topical applications.

All testing is conducted in-house, 100% on-site in their newly renovated facilities. All global SPF and UVA-PF test methods are offered in compliance with various labeling requirements. At the forefront of its “Beyond UV Testing” services lies an exclusive methodology for blue light (high-energy visible; HEV), visible light, and infrared testing. To maximize efficacy, highly detailed, high-resolution before-and-after Matched Scientific Photography is combined with standardized PhotoGrammetrix (PhGx®) measurements, creating scientifically controlled images that are widely accepted by numerous international legal and regulatory organizations. This foundation is used for claim substantiation, marketing, and visual documentation. By pairing Matched Scientific Photography with PhotoGrammetrix® image analysis, every visual physiological change detected through various advanced imaging systems can be quantified.
